Kohima, Oct. 10 (EMN): The first art camp of the Task Force for Music and Arts (Tafma) concluded on Thursday, October 10 at Jotsoma village in Kohima.
Dr. Hovithal Sothu, project director of the Tafma gave a speech during the event. In his exhortation to the participants of the art event, two women and eight men, he urged them to strive for excellence to become successful in their trade.
Sothu asked them to be punctual and courteous in their work. He asserted that a good artist is someone who is also a good listener and a good communicator, and is a versatile and flexible person.
The official emphasised on the importance of being honest. He urged the artists to avoid plagiarism. He said that the attribute of being curious adds new things to one’s thoughts and ideas. He explained that professionalism and perfectionism work well when it gets together.
“Mediocrity has spoilt everything,” he said. “For everything to be successful need to exist together.” He urged the artist to stay connected to grow together and build together.
Mhayani Kikon, an artist who participated in the art camp, spoke about her experience at the event. She said art is an expression of feelings and emotions on the ‘canvas of life which remains pristine entirely.’
“Every pigment an artist displays speaks unfathomable expressions and thoughts. It is not easy to decipher the depth of philosophical depth that is weaved and chiselled.”
Another participant, Vikuolelie Keditsu, said he learned many things through discussions and interaction with new artists.
