Imphal, Nov. 11 (EMN): Assam Rifles Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Unity and Heritage Tri- Nation Motorcycle Rally reached Imphal on Saturday and was accorded a warm welcome at Mantripukhri by Assam Rifles Personnel of 9 Sector and IGAR (S). The rally started its journey from Shillong on Oct. 31 where it was flagged off by Ganga Prasad, Governor of Meghalaya and Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, DGAR. Covering a distance of 2150Km and riding along India Myanmar and Bangladesh, the rally also visited a number of villages in Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. The expedition will be in the Imphal till Monday and will further move to Nagaland and Assam before terminating the journey at Shillong on Nov. 22. The Rally was welcomed by “The Royal Riders”, a riders club in Imphal and riders of 9 Sector Assam Rifles at Pallel , 50 km south of Imphal and was escorted to Thoubal where 26 Assam Rifles organised a welcome function for the team members. DC Thoubal district N Nabhakishwar Singh welcomed the Rally along with locals, children and AR Officers and men. A cultural programme was organised during the event and the expedition further reached Imphal in the afternoon.
The team was flagged in at Mantripukhari by Major General Virendra Singh,IG of Assam Rifles (S). The IG welcomed the team and appreciated the effort of team members in spreading goodwill, faith and harmony towards the greater cause of unity, integrity and peace amongst the countrymen and friendly foreign countries. The students of ARPS Mantripukhari also joined the Assam Rifles personnel in extending a warm welcome to the expedition team.
The Motorcycle Rally members will be interacting with the Governor on Nov. 12 and will also be meeting students of various school and colleges in Imphal and adjoining areas. The rally is scheduled to be flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh of Manipur on Nov. 13.
