Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN): The Deputy Commissioner and ARO, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), Kohima, R Toshimeren Aier held a meeting with recognised political parties with regard to the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll on Oct. 3 at DC Conference hall, Kohima.
Addressing the meeting, DC informed the electors of the 8-Western Angami, 9-Kohima town, 10 Northern Angami-1, 11 Northern Angami-II, 12 Tseminyu, 14 Southern Angami-I, and 15 Southern Angami -II Assembly Constituencies that the electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and a copy is also available at the DC office for online registration.
The office of the AERO also informed that the qualifying date for the preparation of electoral roll would be on January 1, 2018. He directed electors with regard to inclusion of names in the electoral roll or any objection to the particulars in any entry to lodge the same on or before October 31, either to the office or the Booth Level Officers or sent the same via post to the office of the AERO. He further sought cooperation and support of various political parties and BLOs to work towards making clean election a reality for the general election, 2018.
Aier also informed that the stages of revision will be held on the following qualifying dates.
(1) Draft publication of rolls – Oct. 3
(2) Period for filling claims and objections – Oct. 3 to 31
(3) Reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in local bodies meeting and verification of names – Oct. 13 and 27.
(4) Special campaign dates with Booth Level Agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections - Oct. 14 and 28.
(5) Disposal of claims and objection by Nov. 30.
(6) Updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control table and preparation and printing of supplementary list by Dec. 20.
(7) Final publication of electoral rolls on Jan. 5, 2018.
