DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Defence on Thursday issued a clarification to its July 15 press release on Senapati violence, stating that information about the operation had been shared with the NSCN (IM)'s representative in Senapati and not with the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG).
“It is hereby clarified that the information was shared with the CFMG representative of NSCN (IM) faction, based at Senapati, before the operation was launched and not with the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG), Kohima.
“The CFMG in Kohima operates the official oversight mechanism for the Ceasefire Ground Rules (CFGR) agreed upon between the government of India and various Naga political groups (NPGs),” it stated.
