Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): The 11th Assam Rifles of the 26th sector Assam Rifles and the Myanmar army and civil administration from both the countries are said to have organised a cleanliness drive along the Indo-Myanmar border between the BP 77 and Namphalon market on Jan. 27.
A press release from the Assam Rifles issued on Jan. 29 mentioned that 112 Indian civilians and 107 Myanmarese nationals took part in the cleanliness drive.
Two JCB each and three tippers from Myanmar are also said to have put into service during the drive.
During the drive, the civilians are said to have been briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and mutual cooperation between two neighbouring countries. They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should be regularly cleaned and regulated.
The event was the second such initiative at the Moreh border by the military and civil agencies of both nations after a cleanliness drive that was held on Jan. 19.
The initiative was well-received and appreciated by the locals of both sides of Indo-Myanmar Border as well as by the civil administration, it was informed.
The enthusiasm and cooperation offered by Namphalon Bazar Committee needs special mention as they offered tea and snacks to all during the cleanliness drive, it was informed.
