KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 26: ARKCA blanked Boisterious Boys 6-0 to enter the next round of the ongoing 17th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy here at Kohima local ground.
Playing the first match of the day, ARKCA thrashed Boisterious Boys to send them back home of the month-long knock-out tournament.
ARKCA took the first lead through their centre forward Innayapang in the 16th minute. Though ARKCA dominated the entire match proceedings, the Boisterious Boys were successful in restricting their penetration before the interval.
However, by the second half, the match became a one-sided match as ARKCA went on to score five more goals to make it the biggest victory so far in the tournament.
Entering the second half, Innayapang again gave his team the double lead when his touch got passed the keeper in the 41st minute. Within no time, Azo scored to give ARKCA the third lead.
ARKCA was all out to signal their entry to the tournament as Pumang scored in the 54th minute. 10 minutes later, Imsutemsen’s touch found the net in the 64th minute. Moving into the stoppage time of the 70-minutes match, Azo scored his second goal to end the scoreboard with 6-0.
Playing the second match, the New Market XI also made an early exit from the tournament as they went down fighting against Crony FC by 2-0.
The New Market XI injected the first blood when Akhrielie Yiese scored in the 17th minute to take advantage of the first half.
However, the second half belonged to the Crony FC as they managed to fight back to beat their opponents. Crony FC’s Captain Menguse Sale scored both the goals. He scored first in the 33rd minute and just when the match was equally poised, Sale gave his team the much needed lead in the 54th minute and sealed the match to their favour.
In the third match, Tiema Khe, Kidima defeated Galacticos 2-0 to make it through to the next round. One of the leading scorers of the last edition, Shürhosül Pucho, who scored six goals last year, gave his team the first lead in the 16th minute.
Moving into the final minutes of the stipulated time of the match, Kevisekho Thokhwe scored in the 70th minute to give his team the double lead.
Playing the last match, Baptist High, Kohima went down to Addax FC by 3-1 deficit. The Baptist students were successful to restrict the Addax FC players in the first half, but it was a different story in the second half.
Lavori gave the Addax, the first lead in 39th minute, followed by Punuru Nienu’s superb free kick shot that got passed the keeper in 46th minute.
When the match almost died down, the Baptist High students brought the stadium alive after Ashebo scored in the 65th minute to minimize the deficit. But the celebration of Baptist High was short lived as Keviphretuo Kire of Addax FC scored in the 68th minute to take the scoreboard to 3-1.
