
DIMAPUR — With a mission to promote constitutional values and create a just and equitable society, We, The People Abhiyan (WTPA) and Access to Rights and Knowledge (ARK) Foundation conducted a three-day capacity building training at the conference hall of LCS Building in Kohima from June 15 to the 17th.
An update from ARK Foundation stated that the two organisations are committed to empowering individuals and communities to bring about positive change. It added that the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a diverse group of individuals and organisations comprising of law students, educationists, youth leaders, representatives of social science and social and developmental organisations and healthcare workers.
"We are thrilled to be in Kohima for this training," said Sana Siddiqui, WTPA head of capacity building programme, adding, "The vibrant and diverse participation from individuals across various professions and backgrounds was truly captivating to witness. It was a delight to engage with such an eclectic group, exchanging thoughts and ideas regarding constitutional values added a unique dimension to the training experience."
It stated that participants were made to explore the constitutional framework and its relevance to their thematic work areas and daily lives and how they could make a direct impact using the constitution during the three-day training programme.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It added that the programme was aimed at fostering a comprehensive understanding of constitutional values and encouraged participants to critically examine their own mindsets and opinions in alignment with those values. The training also impressed upon the participants to identify grassroots issues and develop effective strategies for addressing them promptly.
Further, the participants were also trained on opportunities to document impactful stories from their communities, highlighting the positive change brought about by their initiatives.
"We were pleasantly surprised by the level of engagement and enthusiasm throughout the three-day programme," said Ketho Angami, founder of ARK Foundation adding, "Participants will undoubtedly benefit from the knowledge and skills they acquired. Building on this positive experience, we will also look upon considering future plans for larger and more extensive programmes that extend beyond Kohima by aiming to reach an even wider audience with valuable learning opportunities."
He thanked WTPA for their collaboration and the learning opportunities imparted to the participants.
It further stated that participants were encouraged to relate the constitutional framework to their everyday lives and explore their roles as responsible and active citizens through group discussions, case studies, and practical exercises.
