- KOHIMA — Nciepzeule,
an archer from Nagaland, described her debut at the national level as both
thrilling and challenging.
- Competing in the Indian Round Women category at the 38th
National Games 2025 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, she represented the Nagaland
Archery Association (NAA).
- The archery events were held from February 1 to 7 at RGICS
Ground, Rajat Jayanti Khel Parisar in Dehradun.
- Reflecting on her experience, she shared that the pressure
of performing against top archers was overwhelming but also a valuable learning
opportunity. “This experience has motivated me to improve and do even better in
the future,” she told Eastern Mirror.
- Hailing from Ngwalwa town in Peren district, Nciepzeule is
the daughter of Igwangzeung and Kereluingausile. She trains at the Khelo India
Centre in Jalukie.
- Her journey to the National Games came after qualifying in
the 31st NTPC Senior National Archery Championship, held in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand,
in 2024.
- At the National Games 2025, despite a strong performance in
the qualification round, she missed advancing to the elimination round by just
one point.
- During her interaction, Nciepzeule emphasised the lessons
she gained from the event. “I learnt how to stay calm under pressure, improve
my focus and accuracy, and build mental strength. Observing top archers helped
me understand the importance of consistent practice and time management,” she
said.
- Mentioned maybe made here that the archer, to her credit,
had won silver in Team Event at the 2nd Nagaland Olympics; gold (Team Event)
and bronze (Individual) at the 3rd Nagaland Olympics; and also silver (Team
Event) at the 3rd Northeast Olympics held in Nagaland.
- She returned to the state on February 6. Expressing
gratitude, she thanked god for guiding her journey, her coach for his
unwavering support, and the principal of St. Xavier College, Fr. Francis, for
his encouragement.
- She also extended appreciation to her family and friends for
their constant motivation and Nagaland Archery Association (NAA) for their
fullest continuous support and opportunities.
