Dimapur, June 4 (EMN): Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles has conducted a lecture cum awareness programme on ‘Drug free Nagaland’ at Government High School, Wakching, on May 26.
The Assam Rifles press release stated that various aspects of emotional, social and financial burden caused by drug addict on the whole family were highlighted during the lecture. It added that various measures to be taken to keep the young generation away from the evils of drug use were emphasised upon.
The release further stated that the school authority and villagers have promised to create awareness and keep the village drug free. A total of 35 of student and four staff of Government High School, Wakching, attended the lecture.
In a separate programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a drawing competition on the theme “HIV/AIDS” at Saramati High School, Kiphire, on May 31.
According to the Assam Rifles press release, the programme was organised with an aim to create awareness about the menace of HIV/ AIDS. It stated that Capt IPS Chahal had addressed the students and staff before the event.
A total of 37 students took part in the competition and concluded with the prize distribution.
In yet another programme, Zunhebotto battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a lecture on the occasion of Anti-tobacco Day at Kidding village on May 31.
The aim of the event was to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco on individuals and society at large. It stated that a total of 45 villagers attended the lecture followed by informal interaction with Assam Rifles personnel.
It added that all the participants have pledged to make the village tobacco free.
