Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): The Dimapur District Taekwondo Championship was held from July 27 to 29 at Indoor Badminton Stadium Dimapur under the aegis of Dimapur District Taekwondo Association. A total of 110 students participated in the championship from seven different schools of Dimapur district. 27 students of Assam Rifles Taekwondo Club, Medziphema took part. The clubs/teams comprised of 13 students from Assam Rifles Public School, Ghaspani and 14 students from Government High School, Medziphema and SFS Higher Secondary School, Medziphema. All children from Medziphema came out with flying colours and 23 of them played the final matches. AR team won 18 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals bagged the overall champions. The AR Taekwondo Club, Medziphema is an initiative of 41 Assam Rifles to provide sporting facilities and coaching to the astudents of Medziphema Town. It is led by a youth from Medziphema, Anirudra Pandey who is coaching the students. The selected students will also take part in the Nagaland State Championship to be held at Kohima in August 2017.
