Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): The Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles has apprehended a gold smuggler who was reportedly in possession of 20 gold bars weighing 3.316 kgs, worth one crore at PVCP, Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district in Manipur on June 25.
The AR in a press release on Tuesday stated that the person was identified as Md. Gayaauddin, residence of Lilong Turel Ahanbi of Thoubal district.
The person was apprehended after a joint team of company operating base at Khudengthabi and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of Imphal found the gold bars inside the fuel tank of the vehicle he was in possession during the vehicle checking at PVCP, Khudengthabi. The release claimed that the person was travelling from Moreh to Imphal.
Recovered gold bars along with the person was handed over to DRI of Imphal for further procedures.
