Dimapur, July 2: Assam Rifles medical team of Thoubal Battalion under Keithelmanbi Sector Assam Rifles saved the life of a snake bite victim on July 1. The victim identitifed as Rohit Sapam (9 years) and resident of Wangoo village in Thoubal district of Manipur, was bitten by a snake and was immediately rushed to the unit hospital of the Thoubal Battalion of Assam Rifles.
The victim was readily attended by the medical team led by Medical Officer and necessary first aid was administered. Later, the victim was referred to District Hospital, Thoubal, for further treatment.
The timely action of Assam Rifles medical team not only saved precious human life but also reinforced good faith among the locals of Wangoo village.
In a separate programme, Keithelmanbi Battalion of Keithelmanbi Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted an Iftar Party at Lilong in Thoubal district of Manipur on July 1.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramzan and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together. Iftar marks the end of fast by practicing Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.
A total of 110 people attended the event. A sumptuous feast was also organized on the occasion. Prominent dignitaries of Lilong attended the function and exchanged good wishes with all present. Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles reiterated its efforts towards ensuring security and peace in the State.
