[caption id="attachment_162512" align="alignnone" width="550"] Suspected NSCN (R) cadres under the Assam Rifles’ custody.[/caption] Dimapur, Jan. 31 (EMN): Basing on specific information, personnel of the Assam Rifles from Dimapur battalion under the aegis of IGAR (North) arrested five suspected NSCN (R) members and rescued one kidnapped person from their captivity on January 30. A security forces press release stated that the armed personnel were arrested during a mobile vehicle checking (MVC) in general area at Aoyimti village. During the checking, the troops intercepted a Bolero car without a registration number and apprehended five suspected NSCN (R) cadres with illegal arms and rescued the kidnapped individual. The cadres were identified as ‘SS’ Lt Col Khoto, ‘SS’ Maj Rikhum, ‘SS’ Maj Athsong Chang, ‘SS’ Capt John Pomei and ‘SS’ Cpl Shitmong, all from NSCN (R). The kidnapped individual rescued by the Assam Rifles was identified as Tokhuvi Avomi and resident of 4th Mile, Dimapur. The troops recovered two point 22 mm pistol along with two magazine, five point 22 rounds, Indian currency in cash worth INR 17,140, three mobile phones and one Bolero vehicle. The apprehendees and the rescued individual alongwith the recovered items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigation, the statement added.
