Imphal, Nov. 10 (EMN): Troops of Assam Rifles under Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) claimed to have recovered contraband drugs worth INR 10.40 lakhs from a bus at Khudengthabi check post in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on November 8.
According to a defence release, the contraband drugs were seized during a routine vehicle checking at 9:10 am from a white coloured bus bearing registration No. MN 0601BA 0066, PRO Assam Rifles (South) said in a press release.
On carrying out a thorough check of the bus, the team recovered two packets of heroin weighing approximately 26 grams and costing approximately INR 10,40,000 from one of the passengers identified as Lalkhogou (64) of Churachandpur.
The detained individual and the recovered items have been handed over to Moreh police station for further investigation, it added.
