18 Assam Rifles recovered cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores from the outskirts of Ngam, a village bordering Assam-Nagaland-Manipur in the wee hours on March 11.
According to PRO, IGAR(N), acting on the information regarding various armed insurgent groups’ repeated harassment and extortion activities in the villages bordering Assam-Nagaland-Manipur, troops of 18 Assam Rifles launched an operation in general area of Ngam on March 10 and 11 which culminated into recovery of six weapons to include one 303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, one .22 rifle and three 12 bore rifles along with ammunition and War Like Stores which were found concealed in an isolated hut. A temporary hideout and transit location being used by the underground group has been destroyed by the Assam Rifles, the IGAR(N) statement said.
