Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): Kohima and Mon battalions of the Assam Rifles have conducted free medical camp on January 14 in Viswema village under Kohima district and Lungwa village under Mon district respectively.
Defence release stated that a total of 144 patients including 52 male, 60 female and 32 children were examined and treated at Viswema while at Lungwa a total of 192 villagers including 17 male, 70 females and 105 children were treated for various illness.
Besides the medical check-up, medicines were provided to the needy patients during the medical camps, the release added.
In a separate programme, Wokha battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a National Integration Tour (NIT) for students from Nagaland. The tour was flagged off on January 8 by the state governor, PB Acharya.
According to a defence release, a total of 20 girl students and two lady teachers from Wokha, Kiphire, Phek and Kohima took part in the exposure tour programme.
The flagging-in programme was organised in Kohima on January 15. Addressing the flag-in programme, commander of 5 Sector Assam Rifles has advised the students to utilise the exposure and experience gained during the visit and also encouraged them to work hard and to be role models for the society.
The team had visited various places of importance covering wide spectrum of educational interests like tourist places, prominent historical places and cultural institutions.
