Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on ‘Global warming and climate change’ at COB, Peren, on January 18.
The aim of the lecture, according to Assam Rifles, was to generate awareness amongst students and youth on the rapid change in weather patterns due to global warming. The lecture covered the need for maintaining ecological balance and measures to arrest the looming threat.
Altogether, 40 students from Peren Government College attended lecture.
In a separate programme, Mon battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp in Chenmoho village under Mon district on January 18.
The aim of the medical camp, according to the Assam Rifles, was to provide free medical check-up and treatment to the local residents of Chenmoho and surrounding villages. Altogether, 246 persons including 85 male, 76 female and 85 children were examined and provided with free medicines.
In yet another programme, Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles has organised an interaction meeting with village functionaries and ex-servicemen (ESM) of Kiphire town and village, chaired by Maj. Gen. PC Nair, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), on January 16. The aim of this interaction was to discuss about the prevailing security situation in Kiphire district.
Inspector General has apprised the GBs about setting up a skill development centre to provide employment to uneducated youth and help them in earning for their livelihood.
The release stated that GBs have assured full cooperation and support to the security forces in bringing about a peaceful and secure environment in the district. Altogether 30 residents including the deputy commissioner, Kiphire, attended the meeting.
