Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): Raymond, Zuchamo, and Menuosenuo, all Class VIII students of SFS school, Medziphema, were declared winners of the poster making and drawing competition organised by the Medziphema battalion of the Assam Rifles held on June 18 on the theme ‘Drug free Nagaland.’
The Assam Rifles had organised the competition with the aim to spread awareness on drug abuse and its ill effects in the society.
A total of 120 students from various standards have participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and expressed their thoughts on the canvas beautifully. The children were encouraged to spread the message of “Drug free Nagaland” and help in eradicating the disease from the state.
The event culminated with prize distribution for the best three drawings followed by distribution of sweets to students.
In a separate programme, Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifle has organised a HIV and AIDS awareness talked for the villagers at Old Showba on June 17.
The aim of the interaction was to create awareness on how the virus spreads and its preventive measures. The locals in attendance were also educated not to discriminate people living with HIV/AIDS but to treat them with compassion in order to enable them lead a normal lives. Altogether 22 villagers have been attended the programme.
