DIMAPUR — In an effort to foster a culture of health and discipline, the Assam Rifles commemorated International Mind-Body Wellness Day by organising a yoga workshop and a lecture on healthy living practices in Chizami town under Phek district on January 4 with the participation of 47 persons.
A defence release stated that the initiative underscored the critical importance of mental and physical resilience in achieving a fulfilling and purpose-driven life.
The aim of yoga workshop was to educate participants on the transformative benefits of yoga, focusing on enhancing physical endurance, improving flexibility, and fostering mental clarity.
It stated that the lecture reinforced the importance of a structured lifestyle, emphasising regular physical activity, a balanced diet and mindfulness practices such as meditation. It added that special attention was given to the role of sports in building character, fostering teamwork and cultivating a fighting spirit. It said that sports develop critical attributes like perseverance, discipline and strategic thinking, essential for navigating life’s challenges.
It further stated that the initiative of Assam Rifles served as a powerful reminder that a strong mind and a healthy body are indispensable for achieving peak performance, not just on the field but in every aspect of life.
