Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles has arrested one suspected NSCN (K) cadre during operation from Tinpatti area in Kohima town on May 18.
According to Assam Rifles press release, the accused has been identified as Tsiinuo Pienyii alias Khrielelie Pienyü (41), son of Nyulhoulie Pienyü and resident of Nerhima village in Kohima district.
The troops recovered one cash receipt and four extortion slips amounting to INR 1,00,000 from his possession. It added that the accused person along with the recovered items were handed over to North Police Station, Kohima, for further investigation.
In a separate incident, Medziphema battalion of the Assam Rifles also arrested one suspected NSCN (K) cadre from Jharnapani area near Medziphema on May 19 along with one .22 pistol and two live rounds and a motorbike.
The accused person has been identified as ‘ss’ Cpl Hapang Konyak (28) of NSCN (K). The individual revealed that he had been undertaking extortion activities in Dimapur and Kohima.
The release further stated that the accused person along with recovered items were handed over to Medziphema police station for further investigation.
In yet another incident, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles has recovered one .22 auto pistol along with one magazine from Merima in Kohima district on May 18.
The Assam Rifles press release stated that the arms was recovered from the resident of one Kezhalezo Ciesotsu, son of Neiliehu. It added that the recovered items were deposited to North Police Station.
