Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Basing on specific intelligent inputs, troops of Chieswema battalion of the Assam Rifles arrested one suspected NSCN (K) cadre in possession of extortion slip and cash from High School Junction, Kohima, on May 2.
The cadre has been identified as ‘ss’ Lieutenant of NSCN (K), Athrong Sangtam (31), son of Tshapong Sangtam and resident of Chimonger village in Tuensang district.
The Assam Rifles press release stated that the individual had revealed his involvement in collection of illegal taxes and extortion money from local populace in Kohima town. The troops recovered extortion slip of NSCN/ GPRN (K) and cash of INR 2,000.
It further stated that the individual and recovered items were handed over to North Police Station, Kohima, for further investigation.
