Dimapur, March 8 (EMN): The 26th Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) in a joint operation with Thoubal Commandos nabbed a hardcore Improvised Explosive Device (IED) expert of the People Liberation Army (PLA), a banned insurgent outfit.
A press release issued by the IGAR (south) on March 8 mentioned that the individual was apprehended while he was trying to link up with an IED courier who was smuggling the explosives consignment from Myanmar through Kamjong district in Manipur.
The individual is said to be a hardcore cadre who has been serving with the outlawed organisation in 2002 and is a close aide of many top self styled military commanders of the proscribed group.
As per the apprehended individual the IED was to be utilized for targeting the security forces. He has also confessed to have been involved in preparing the of IEDs in four earlier instances of targeting the security forces, the release stated.
