Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): The Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) has made five arrests during joint raids with police representative in different parts of the district during the past week. Separate press releases from the Assam Rifles from different on different occasions informed about the capture of five people from different locations in Dimapur and Peren districts.
Dimapur
On Aug. 1, AR launched a search operation in the Supermarket area in Dimapur and apprehended one Abdul Karim (32 years) son of Abdul Kadir, resident of Jalugotim Morigaon Assam and currently residing at Naharbari village, East Dimapur. He was caught with 'one .32 pistol with magazine and other incriminating documents'.
On July 24, during an operation at Dalai gate, Dimapur are, AR apprehended on NSCN (K), identified as one Asheto Sema (32 years) son of Yekhuyi Sema, resident of Suruhoto villiage, under Zunheboto district and presently residing at New Colony, Burma Camp in Dimapur. One 9mm (factory made) pistol with magazine and live ammunition and cash amount to INR 2,630 was also seized during the search operation.
On July 26, the AR apprehended the 'commander of the newly formed outfit - Barak State Liberation Force' from Nuton Basti, Dimapur.
The AR identified the 'commander' as one Md Salim Ahmed alias Soloman Sheikh (34 years), son of Siddek Ali Shaikh, village Barkatpur, District Karimganj (Assam). One .22mm pistol with magazine and six rounds of Point 22mm live ammunition was seized from his procession.
The AR stated that the apprehended 'commander', on spot questioning, admitted of being involved in extortion, kidnapping and purchase of arms and ammunition for raising of 'the group in Silchar, Karimganj and Kailakandi districts of Assam'.
Jalukie
The Jalukie battalion of AR with police representatives apprehended one NSCN (IM) cadre with one AK-47 assault rifle with magazine and sixty rounds and other incriminating items. The apprehended individual was identified as “SS Pvt” Pongam, age 23 years, son of Musho, resident of Thawho, Noklak town in Tuensang.
Athibung
On July 25, the AR and police, during a search operation one "NSCN (KN)" cadre with one .22 country made pistol in Athibung area under Peren district.
The AR identified the apprehended cadre as one Daniel (35) son of Tabui, residing at Mobulong under Peren district. It said that the apprehended person as an active 'ss Sgt Major” of NSCN (KN) actively involved in tax collection as chief guard duty at Athibung.
The Assam Rifles press releases, informed that the apprehended persons and the seized items were sent to the respective police station for further investigation.
