
Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): The Assam Rifles (AR) is said to have carried out various humanitarian activities at several locations in Nagaland state in view of the nationwide lockdown being imposed to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
An update from Lt Col L Vincent Patton informed that the Mokokchung Battalion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) extended its helping hand to the district administration, Mokokchung by contributing face masks and PPE made from locally available materials to be given to frontline healthcare workers and police personnel who are selflessly fighting the Covid-19.
At another event, the Zunheboto Battalion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) distributed essential commodities and medicines to the residents of Ahotshe village in Tuensang on April 27. The troop appealed to the people to follow the lockdown advisories during the distribution programme, informed an update.
Veer naris, ex-servicemen helped
The Kohima Battalion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) also reached out to 11 veer naris and ex-servicemen at lower Chandmari, Kohima and provided them with essential food items, an update informed.
The officials of Food and Civil Supplies distributed the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKAY) rice at Phek town in the presence of district administration to all the 11 colonies, added the update.
