Dimapur, Sep 12 (EMN): Two Assam Rifles personnel sustained bullet injuries following an attack on its post at Dan by suspected NSCN (K) cadres from across the Indo-Myanmar border on September 11. Severe exchange of fire was reported between the troops and cadres. Assam Rifles press release however stated that alert troops had foiled the attack. In retaliation, one AR jawan sustained gunshot wound and was immediately administered first aid and evacuated to Rangapahar Military Hospital and is currently under medical treatment. The other Jawan sustained a splinter injury in the hand and was administered first aid on the post. The exact number of cadres involved in the incident could not be ascertained due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility and fled deep into Myanmar jungles. Unit sources confirmed injury to few cadres. Reinforcement was called in later during the evening. Magazines, live rounds and fired cases of M16, live rounds and fired cases of AK series and fired shells of Lathode used in the post attack were recovered.
