Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): The annual inter-sector debate competition on ‘Human Rights’ was organised at Assam Rifles Training Centre & School (ARTC&S), Dimapur, on July 27 and 28 with the participation of ten teams of Assam Rifles Sectors and ARTC&S.

The topic for the debate was “Security forces observing human rights are better equipped to meet challenges to national security.” A total 40 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English, 20 speakers each ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the motion. The main aim of the debate was to sensitise the troops about human rights and importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public.
Rifleman RK Dubey of 10 Sector AR, Rifleman Umesh Kumar Yadav of ARTC&S and Rifleman Praveen of 25 Sector AR were declared winners ‘For’ the motion in Hindi, while in the ‘Against’ the motion Havildar Jagdish Pandey of 5 Sector AR, Rifleman Balwan Singh of ARTC&S and Rifleman SS Chauhan of 21 Sector AR were declared winners.
Rifleman H Tongsin Anal of 6 Sector AR, Rifleman NG Monsang of 26 Sector AR and Recruit B Choudhary of ARTC&S were declared winners in ‘For’ the motion in English, while in ‘Against’ the motion Recruit Vaibhav Patil of ARTC&S, Havildar Jay VJ of 7 Sector AR and Havildar Keneilekho Chietsu of 25 Sector AR were declared winners.
ARTC&S was adjudged the best team and Headquarters 25 Sector AR team was declared the runners up. ARTC&S team was also selected to take part in the forthcoming “Central Police Organisation’s North East Zone debate competition-2017” scheduled at ARTC&S, Dimapur, on August 18.
Colonel Anil Yadav, Commanding Officer No-2 Training Battalion ARTC&S and the chief guest, highlighted on the importance of adhering to the human right norms while dealing with the public. He also exhorted all ranks to strictly observe the human rights and law of the land while combating terrorism.
He also gave away prizes to the participants and presented trophies to the winner and runners up teams.
