Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): The Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a security review meeting with various civil organisations on November 20 at Mokokchung.
According to a defence report, the aim of the event was to assess the ongoing situation, measures to ensure adherence to ceasefire ground rules and the ways to curbing extortion or ‘illegal taxation.’
The meeting was co-chaired by the commandant of Mokokchung battalion and Mokokchung district’s police chief. Representatives from the Ao Senden, Ao Kaketshir Mungdang and student leaders attended the event.
The battalion also conducted an annual sports event of the Assam Rifles High School at Mokokchung on November 20. The event commenced with a March Past followed by the sporting events for students of various age groups.
The commandant, while addressing the students, emphasised on the importance of sports. He advised them to actively participate.
In another programme, Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match for youth of Heningkunglwa and Ngwalwa villages at Heningkunglwa on November 20 with an aim to ease the ongoing tension between residents of the two villages due to the land related issues.
It stated that youth of both villages participated with enthusiasm and in true sportsmanship spirit.
