Dimapur, March 3 (EMN): Combined team of the Assam Rifles and Nagaland police have reportedly destroyed temporary camps of the NSCN (IM) cadres in Ikiesingram and Beisumpuloa villages under Peren district on March 1 and 2 respectively.
In a joint press release, GB of Beisumpuloa Raidun Pame and the GB of Ikiesingram Rangnim Pame claimed that besides destroying the temporary camps, Assam Rifles personnel have chased the NSCN (IM) cadres deep inside of Intangki forest.
The press release stated that Assam Rifles of Jalukie battalion along with Nagaland police came to Ikiesingram and Beisumpuloa villages on March 1 and 2 in search of NSCN (IM) cadres, who were present in Khelma-Kabai area since last July.
It added that the villagers of the areas were frightened by heavy movement of armed forces and prayed not to repeat incidents of the 1990s. It said the Assam Rifles are presently stationed at Khelma-Kabai area in search of the cadres.
The village representatives have appealed to the authorities of both parties to solve the issue peacefully and maintain harmonious environment in area.
The village representatives further requested the NSCN (IM) to call back the 11 cadres to Hebron for peace to prevail in the area.
