Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): The 28 Assam Rifles, under civic action programme 2018-2019, constructed a 500m footpath at Saron colony in Wokha town.
A press release issued by one Limathung Patton, a colony resident, stated that the footpath has been overlooked by authorities despite the fact that it is the lifeline of more than 80 households of lower Saron colony.
The residents of Saron colony have expressed gratitude to the Commanding Officer of 28 Assam Rifles for the philanthropic support in addressing a major concern for the colony. It stated that the newly constructed footpath have facilitated the community in carrying out daily routine activities with ease and convenience.
In another programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a motivational lecture on entry into Indian army for students of Science College, Jotsoma, on April 6.
Students were briefed about the joining criteria, prospects and the benefits for the family members of an army officer. Altogether, 500 students attended the event. In the same event, a lecture on hygiene and hygiene was imparted to the students. Precaution against common viral disease was also imparted to the students.
The same battalion also organised a volleyball match on the theme ‘Sports friendly Nagaland’ at Model village, Kohima, on April 3.
The match was organised to encourage the youth to engage in extracurricular activities to maintain a healthy state of mind and body.
At the close of the match, participants were briefed about the importance of education in shaping a brighter prospect for future.
