AR conducts health camp, trekking

Dimapur, Feb 27: A total 312 patients from six villages were benefitted from the free medical camp conducted by the Assam Rifles at Longwa village in Mon district on February 27. The free health camp was conducted troops of 35 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 7 Sect AR of HQ IGAR (N). AR press release said the medical team of 35 Assam Rifles headed by Capt Tejesh BS alongwith medical staff comprising nursing assistants and technicians treated 312 patients including 115 male, 80 female and 117 children from 6 villages in Mon district. Tea and refreshment were also provided to all the villagers who attended the medical camp. The villagers meanwhile conveyed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for conducting the medical camp in remote areas which is deprived of modern medical facilities. They also requested for more such camps in future.In a separate programme, troops of 36 Assam Rifles organised a trekking expedition to Mt Paona, the third highest peak in Nagaland, for students of Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, on February 26. A total of 40 students and two teachers from Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, participated in the trek from Benreu village to Mt. Paona wherein they will be introduced to wide ranging issues covering environmental protection, afforestation and protection of wildlife. The event was aimed at fostering a spirit of adventure, bonhomie and to create awareness about the natural beauty of Nagaland amongst the local children.
