
Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): Ghaspani battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted an awareness campaign on the employment avenues for women at Ghaspani on Tuesday.
As part of the event, local youth including women were informed about upcoming army recruitment for women military police, Assam Rifles meritorious sportsman recruitment, SSC exams and various employment opportunities in state services, a defence release stated.
It added that the participants were assured of necessary assistance during registration as well as preparation for these exams.
In another programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Kiphire district administration conducted a Covid vaccination drive at Betang village on July 5. The vaccination drive was conducted under the guidance of medical staff of PHC Moya village.
It stated that a total of 12 residents of Betang village were administered the first dose of Covid vaccine.
The same battalion organised a tree plantation drive at Thongsonyu village on July 6 on the theme ‘Clean and green Nagaland.’ The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of a clean and green environment, it stated.
During the event, the troops also educated the residents on the importance of trees to maintain ecological equilibrium.
On the same day, the battalion organised a vaccination drive at Mimi village in which more than 60 out of 180 eligible residents were administered the vaccine.
In a separate programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted an interaction programme with village elders and the GBs of Kiphire town on July 6.
The meeting was aimed at creating awareness on prevention from Covid-19 pandemic. Report added that the initiative undertaken by the Assam Rifles was appreciated by the residents.
