DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5
The NSCN (IM) has condemned “the unwarranted raids, arrest and destruction of office properties” by the joint forces of 46 Assam Rifles and paramilitary special forces on the night of October 4 and early October 5 morning “ransacking and destroying the mess of Meluri town command and Pochury Region office” during which they seized one U.S carbine and a walkie talkie set.
In a press release issued Monday, the NSCN (IM) stated that at this crucial juncture of serious political negotiation between the government of India and the outfit, it will be unwise on the part of Assam Rifles to vitiate the conducive environment by indulging in something which not only violate the ground rules of Cease Fire Agreement but also create confusion to the level of confidence and momentum already build up between the two parties.
“Therefore, such act of injecting mistrust and confusion should not be repeated in the future but exhibit political maturity if at all the Assam Rifle honors the ongoing political talks.”
