The Home department notification, issued under Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, grants paid leave to all eligible electors in the constituency, including those employed in government offices, banks, private establishments, and industrial units.
The provision also covers daily wage and casual workers.
The order further clarified that electors from the constituency who are working outside its boundaries will also be entitled to the paid holiday, ensuring no voter is deprived of the opportunity to cast their ballot.
