Apollo Hospital and National Health Mission Nagaland sign MoU on child health

DIMAPUR — A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Apollo Children’s Hospital (ACH), Chennai and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) programme under National Health Mission (NHM), Nagaland, at the office chamber of the Mission Director, NHM, on Thursday.


According to a DIPR report, the MoU was signed for screening and treatment of congenital heart diseases for children 0 to 18 years of age.


As per the MoU, the NHM and Apollo Children's Hospital will collaborate on screening camps in Nagaland, referring children needing further treatment to Apollo Chennai, with NHM covering expenses under RBSK norms and Apollo Hospital Charitable Trust covering excess costs.


Apollo Children’s Hospital will also provide free accommodation to the patient parties at a maximum of one attendant per patient during their child treatment at the hospital.


It will also provide training to government doctors in paediatric cardiac surgery/interventions and will also be committed to training the support staff which is also part of the MoU.

The Mission Director, during the interaction, expressed her appreciation to ACH for the initiative and hoped that the collaboration will benefit the people of Nagaland by improving access to specialised medical care and support services. Apollo's Unit Head, Niranjani S, shared positive experiences in Meghalaya, Tripura, and Arunachal, announcing plans to introduce teleconsultation in the state and provide opportunities for local nurses.


The MoU was signed by Dr. Avile Zao, Mission Director, NHM for RBSK, Nagaland and Niranjani S, the unit head of Apollo Children’s and Women’s Hospital, who was accompanied by D Rajkumar, Senior Manager, Health Care Services, ACH, in the presence of the State Programme Officer, (NHM) Dr. Keveduyi Theyo and NHM officers.


It may be mentioned that NHM has partnered with hospitals in Manipur (SKY and SHIJA) since 2018 and Health City Hospital in Guwahati since 2025, providing heart screening and treatment services.
