Dimapur, Aug. 29 (EMN): The 12th battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Daimukh in Arunachal Pradesh conducted a three-day “familiarisation exercise” on disaster management from August 26 to the 28th, in Longleng.
The exercise included orientations on basic rescue operations, safety rules, and disaster preparedness to reduce the magnitude of damage during emergencies, updates stated.
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), gave updates on Wednesday about the orientation.
The exercise was undertaken in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and the District Disaster Management Authority of Longleng, updates stated.
During the programme the team of 20 NDRF personnel led by Inspector Sourah Singh and Sub Inspector Sushil Kumar briefly demonstrated the basic steps and techniques of rescue during disasters. Likewise, the personnel highlighted safety rules, the IPR stated.
Apart from demonstration on disaster management, the NDRF team explained to the people about disaster preparedness and safety tips to reduce the extent of damage during emergencies.
“The team also gave live demonstration of rescue operation in various techniques, like first aid to injured, fire, earthquake and other natural calamities,” the IPR stated.
Besides students and members of the public, officials of the district’s administration, members of nongovernmental organisations, chamber of commerce, ward presidents and community organisations, police, 12th Indian Reserve Police, Village Guards, among others attended the programme, the IPR stated.
A similar ‘familiarisation programmes’ were conducted earlier in the public local ground, Yingli College and the establishment of the police superintendent in Longleng, the IPR stated.
