Ao Students' Conference support call for Rotary-IOC road construction
The Ao Students' Conference has come out in support of the demand put forward by the Ongpangkong Students' Conference for the construction of a road between Rotary Junction, Mokokchung
- DIMAPUR — The Ao Students' Conference (AKM) has
come out in support of the demand put forward by the Ongpangkong Students'
Conference (OKM) for the construction of a road between Rotary Junction,
Mokokchung, and the IOC intersection point.
- In a press release, it was stated that AKM stands in
solidarity with the Ongpangkong Students' Conference (OKM). The deplorable road
condition hampers the smooth movement of vehicles and is a primary cause of
accidents while attempting to avoid the potholes in the middle of the road.
- Noting that the road running from Rotary Junction to the IOC
intersection was temporarily patched in September 2024 under the initiative of
the Ongpangkong Students' Conference, it was stated that the stretch of road
has been neglected for years, despite being a key artery connecting highly
congested areas before merging with NH-702D at the IOC intersection.
- ‘Good roads are a basic right of every citizen and directly
impact the quality of life. We want to remind the department and the government
of the responsibility to ensure well-constructed and maintained roads,’ it
read.
- The Ao Students' Conference appealed to the concerned
department in Kohima to kindly look into this matter at the earliest by
allocating special sanctions for repairs before the arrival of the monsoon
season.
