MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) on Thursday strongly condemned the “heinous and inhuman crime” committed against a minor in Mokokchung district on February 16, where the accused is reportedly the victim’s own father.
Describing the act as a profound betrayal by someone meant to be the child’s protector, the AKM highlighted the severe and potentially lifelong psychological trauma inflicted on the victim.
“Such an act is not only shameful and morally reprehensible but strikes at the very foundation of family, society, and humanity,” the AKM stated.

The student body urged police and concerned authorities to handle the case with the “utmost seriousness,” ensuring charges under the strictest provisions of the POCSO Act and delivering swift, uncompromising justice.
It also appealed to family members, village authorities, and the wider community to refrain from any attempts to settle the matter outside the formal legal process.
“Any form of compromise or pressure undermines justice and further victimises the child,” it warned.
The AKM pledged to closely monitor the case’s progress and vowed to ensure the accused faces punishment in accordance with the law.
In a show of solidarity, it extended its “deepest moral and emotional support” to the innocent child, affirming that she is not alone and calling on society to stand with compassion, responsibility, and courage to protect her dignity, aid her healing, and secure a safer future for all children.
