The Ao Senden on Wednesday held a meeting with the leaders of NSCN-IM Ao region to deliberate on the recent declaration of the Ao Senden that any decision involving Ao area in connection with the Indo-Naga political talks will be taken solely by the Ao Senden after consultation with the public.
According to a press release from the Ao Senden on Thursday, the meeting deliberated on the need for wise and proactive approach to the present “historic Peace Accord” made with the Government of India. “The meeting also deliberated on the recent resolution of the Ao Senden regarding the Peace Accord that in the event to take decision that encompasses the Ao tribe, the Ao Senden in consultation with the general public will solely decide on behalf of the Aos.
“The intention of the resolution was made clear that no individual or groups from the public will initiate any decision on behalf of the Aos. This decision was made taking into consideration to avoid any discrepancies amongst the Ao community,” it stated. According to the statement, the members in the meeting had encouraged the Ao community to remain united at this sensitive juncture and extend positive ideas and cooperation for a fruitful final settlement. “The NSCN/GPRN leaders also shared in brief the responsibilities to endure in achieving the long desired goals in Naga peace process and asked Ao Senden to continue supporting the current peace process with same zeal and perceptive.”
