Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): The Ao Senden federal council on Monday decided to excommunicate P Chuba Ozukum, the president of Naga Hoho, from Ao community. This was informed through an Ao Senden press release issued today.
According to the statement, Ozukum would no longer have any right to represent the Ao community in any platform. On November 14 last year, the Ao Senden had decided to dissociate from the Naga Hoho “to protect and preserve the rights of the Aos” – in connection with the state government’s decision to give recognition to the Rongmeis as indigenous settlers of Nagaland.
Accordingly, it also directed its representative, Ozukum to resign from his position at the Naga Hoho. However, the Ao Senden federal council noted, Ozukum was yet to act on the directive, and thus it has decided to excommunicate him from Ao community.
It has also ‘strongly condemned’ the Naga Hoho’s reply to its directive to Ozukum. A tribe’s collective decision and rights cannot be just nullified by any other organisation, the Ao Senden stated.
