Mokokchung, June 14 (EMN): A mass public meeting is being organised at Police Point in Mokokchung town at 9:30 am on June 15 to discuss on the rising crimes against women and social evils in the society.
In a press release convener of the organising committee, Limanungsang, and the member secretary, Longrangty Longchar, stated that the meeting titled ‘Mokokchung town public meeting on crimes against women and social evils in the society’ has been called by all the Ao apex organisations of Mokokchung town namely Mokokchung Town Aor Telongjem, All Ward Union Mokokchung, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang.
It stated that the public meeting was necessitated following the recent rape of a minor girl in Mokokchung town on June 10 at Mongsenbai ward and against the rampant increase in the incidents of crime against women and social evils in the society.
Towards this end, it stated that the apex Ao people’s organisation ‘Ao Senden’ had called a meeting on June 13, where different Ao organisations deliberated on the issues and nominated a resolution cum organising committee drawn from all the organisations. The statement informed that all shops would remain close during the public meeting. Different organisations are entrusted with specific works to make the meeting a success.
The organising committee has further invited all the public of Mokokchung town, irrespective of age, gender or communities, to come and attend the public meeting.
