The Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) in collaboration with the UNO took up an environmental program on Friday, June 5, by undertaking a posters campaign, themed on the environment to mark World Environment Day.
Youths of the DABA visited places like churches of various communities, private and government schools, colleges, orphanage homes, restaurants, bakeries, police stations, and offices including the education,Taxes, administration, Nagaland Pollution Control Board, and newspapers Nagaland Post office, Eastern Mirror, and The Morung Express, Sports Authority of India, Community Education Centre, NST bus station, Railway Station, LIC, SBI, supply offices, employment exchange office, Land record and survey, the civil hospital, and daycare centers, hotels, army camps, Indian oil office, and the Sugar mill with the message of caring for the environment.
The posters stated messages and slogans about recycling, bottled beverages and food, use of electricity, use of electronic applications, transportation, and healthy food habits etc. They were pasted in various locations and places in the town. Pass-it-on cards were also distributed to a thousand people with hopes of reaching out to more people.
The DABA’s youth director, Toshi Jamir, said that some schools and colleges joined the drive by pasting and going around with the team as they were impressed by the program initiated by church’s youths.
Besides, spreading environmental messages through posters, the youth also used online communication mediums such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter to spread the message.
