- DIMAPUR — Ao
Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), in collaboration with Mokokchung Ao Officers
Telongjem (MAOT), organised the 2nd ‘Art of Life in Fullness’ programme at ABAM
Resource Centre, Kangtsung (Ao Penzu) in Mokokchng from February 24 to the
26th.
- An update from ABAM stated that the programme was specially
designed to equip and empower the church leaders with necessary tools and
techniques to experience the fullness of life and for all round excellence. It
added that the ‘Art of Life’ aligned with the United Nation’s 17 sustainable
development goals (SDG).
- On the second day of the programme, Dr, Sarendi Walling,
ACTO (Animal Science) at KVK, Mokokchung, and Imtisenla, ACTO (Agronomy) at
KVK, Mokokchung, spoke on ‘Importance of soil health and integrated livestock
farming.' They have focused on farming to meet the needs of the present and
future, while preserving the environment and social equity.
- They spoke on the importance of maintaining soil fertility
through crop diversification. They have advised to make use of resources
efficiently and to maintain soil health through crop rotation, organic manure,
compositing, bio-fertiliser and vermicompost.
- While sharing on the importance of co-operative society,
Tsulensa Jamir, inspector of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung, spoke about
'the concept of co-operative society and the principles that are incorporated
in a co-operative society'.
- The topic on integrated fish farming was presented by K
Nuken Kichu, assistant fishery officer, and Temsuwapang Longchar, assistant
fishery inspector.
- Speaking on the first day, Maong Jamir, finance secretary of
ABAM, stated that the main objective of the programme was aimed at holistic
approach for church workers to learn and put into practice, to impart their
skills and knowledge in their respective areas.
- Introduction on sustainable agriculture and beyond was
shared by I Lipokonen Jamir, joint director of SARS and president of MOAT.
