The Dept. of Vety and A.H Mokokchung conducted a “Mass Anti Rabies Immunization and Registration of Dogs” programme today under the National Livestock Mission in collaboration with Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) covering all the 18 wards under Mokokchung Town.
Dr. Mapumeren Chief Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung while delivering his key note address highlighted the importance of vaccinating dogs against rabies and its related public health safety concern.Meanwhile, ADC & Administrator MMC Bendanglila also appreciated the effort of the dept. of Vety & AH and also mentioned that through this initiative proper control of loose dogs can be made and sanitary problems can be checked more effectively.
She also said that such initiative program can check the dog population in town through registration and sensitizing the general public in regard of dog related diseases and awareness about dog control.
During the Anti Rabies Immunization and Registration of Dogs at different wards , many dog owners seen in large number to vaccinated their dogs.
Speaking this correspondent, Dr. Mapumeren Chief Veterinary Officer said anti rabies vaccination is important as when a dog bites a victim, one has to undergo treatment at cost of Rs 4000-5000 for a complete treatment. He also said through this campaign we can monitor the dog’s vaccination process.
Chief Veterinary Officer also expressed his gratitude to all wards authorities for their cooperation and serviced rendered for the Anti Rabies Immunization and Registration of Dogs programme today.
Under the supervision of four veterinary doctors and 46 para vets along with local ward authorities, 2425 dogs were register and 2287 dogs were vaccinated.
According dept. of Vety & AH, Mokokchung registration and free vaccination is completed in 4 wards and rest of the remaining 14 ward will be completed in coming week after the procurement the vaccine.
