‘Anti-malaria month’ culminates in Peren

Healthcare workers are seen during awareness campaign on malaria at Ikiesingram village under Athibung block in Peren district.

Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): Peren unit of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) observed the ‘Anti-malaria month” in June on the theme “Zero malaria starts with me.”

To mark the ‘Anti-malaria month,’ several activities were carried out in the selected 15 villages, which are malaria hotspot areas and hard to reach, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Peren stated on Thursday.

The activities were carried out under the supervision of Dr. Kevihulie Meyase, district vector borne officer, and Vimekhrie-u Metsieo, district consultant, along with the village community leaders, ASHAs, malaria technical supervisors (MTS) from the four blocks under Peren district and surveillance workers (SW) of NVBDCP.

The report stated that activities such as campaign through public announcement, importance of LLINS usages, fever screening, inter-personal communication (IPC), and house-to-house awareness were conducted in all the 15 villages. It mentioned that the activities were carried out in strict compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines of physical distancing, usage of gloves, mask etc.
