KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 5: In line with its motto “Teaching is a mission” and in commemoration of ‘Teachers’ Day,’ All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA), led by its president Phonchulo Wanth, paid a courtesy visit to the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH).
According to ANSTA, the visit was mainly to meet and interact with the children of the destitute home and further to motivate and encourage them.
During the visit, a short interaction was held, wherein the ANSTA president encouraged the children to strive hard in order to achieve success.
Wanth also advised the children, who are mostly school going students, to stay away from alcohol, drugs and bad companions. He further warned them on abuse of modern technology.Temjen Yapang, treasurer ANSTA, encouraged the children to face the future with courage, while he also encouraged them by stating that their future is ‘very bright’ if they toil hard.
“Despite the privileges that you may have been denied during your childhood, the future is yours if you strive hard,” he said.
Meanwhile, the proprietor of the destitute home, Neibanuo Angami, thanked the ANSTA officials for their concern upon the children.
At present, there are above 90 children at the orphanage home. Majority of them are students of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, while 14 of them are attending college. A student of this very home is currently pursuing B.Sc. Forestry, it was informed.
The Orphanage and Destitute Home, Kohima, was started by late Zaputuoü Angami in 1973. Till she breathed her last in 2011, the late mother Zaputuoü took care of 659 children. Many of the children, who were brought up under this home, have left the home after they grew up, while some of them went ahead for further study, it was informed.
