Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), in its executive meeting held on December 15, had outrightly rejected the down gradation of Graduate Teachers pay band from INR 9300 to INR 5200.
“The slash down of teachers’ salary is an insult and humiliation to teaching community since salary is the sole sustaining source of the teachers. It has brought down the moral of teachers to the lowest level and will have its own bearing in the teaching-learning process,” stated ANSTA president Ponchulo Wanth and the general secretary Visato Koso in a joint statement.
The Association has also expressed strong resentment and disagreement with the other provisions in the new service rules: (a) Encadrement of Principal Director post to IAS cadre (b) Reduction of 19 DEO/Joint Director posts to 12 and 253 HM post to 117 (c) Withdrawal of HM & AHM from composite GHSS (d) Classification of SDEO/Assistant Director into Junior and Senior given different grades (e) Discrimination among the employees by giving many privileges to one group of teachers while sidelining the other groups.
While stating that revision of service rules/cadres review in the department had come after a gap of many years with the main purpose to improve/upgrade the existing system, it however stated that the present notification was contradictory rather than improvising it. The association, therefore, urged upon the authority to review the defective provisions of the rules with immediate effect since it would adversely affect the employees of the concerned sections if it is implemented in its present form.
In this connection, the house apprise the government to rectify the discrepancies in the Service Rules within a month, failing which it warned that the association would be left with no other option but resort to state wide agitation which might even disturbs the forthcoming HSLC and HSSLC examinations scheduled from March 5, 2018.
Meanwhile, the Association reminded to all its members across the State to be mentally, physically prepared for any eventuality as another phase of agitation against the indifferent attitude of government towards teaching community is imminent if the government fails to do the needful in the appointed time.
