Dimapur, November 6: The 19th annual sports meet of ‘All Nagaland Private Schools Association’ (ANPSA), Dimapur Unit concluded on November 5 at Carmel Hr. Sec. School, 4th Mile, Dimapur.
Altogether 18 schools members participated in this year’s sports meet. The two-day sports meet which was organised with the theme “Excellence through Sports” showcased various sporting events including field and track events.
The inaugural function was held at Carmel Hr. Sec. School on November 4, graced by Watienla Jamir, director of department of Horticulture as the chief guest.
Greenwood Hr. Sec. School emerged as the overall champions for higher secondary section and Carmel Hr. Sec. School was declared as the runners-up. While in high school section, Little Daffodils School and Greenwood Hr. Sec. School were adjudged the overall champions and the runners-up respectively.In the march past event, Eden Hr. Sec. School, Thilixu got the 1st position while Greenwood Hr. Sec. School and Carmel Hr. Sec. School got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Apeto K. Sumi of Greenwood Hr. Sec. School and Rhondeno of Carmel Hr. Secondary school won the best boy and girl athletes in higher secondary section. While the best boy and girl athletes for high school section were awarded to Widambow of Greenwood Hr. Sec. School and Hamsaindi of Little Daffodils School.
The closing function was marked by the distribution of prizes for various categories and events.
The programme came to a grand close with the bringing down of the Flag by Leo David, convenor of the 19th ANPSA Annual Sports Meet 2016 and the Flag March by the NCC Cadets.
