ANPSA Dimapur badminton meet begins with 208 matches, 19 schools competing in knockout format across multiple categories in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The 25th ANPSA Sports Meet Badminton Tournament, organised by the Dimapur unit of All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), got underway on Friday at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
The two-day tournament features participation from 19 schools under ANPSA Dimapur unit, with a total of 208 matches scheduled.
The competition is being held on a knockout basis across multiple categories, including Under-15 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles, as well as open category events in boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, chief guest Rinchen Wangyal Dawa, DIGP, DIGO Group Centre, Khatkati, Karbi Anglong, emphasised the importance of balancing academics with sports for overall development.
He said that sports today has evolved into a structured field offering career opportunities, with athletes earning significant recognition and financial rewards.
Highlighting India’s growing success in badminton at the international level, he said that excellence in sports requires discipline, dedication and proper training. Dawa later declared the tournament open.
Earlier, Trevor Jamir, administrator and proprietor of Lorna’s Higher Secondary School, encouraged participants to view the tournament as a platform to celebrate discipline, effort and passion.
