Dimapur August 3 (EMN): Yet another PIL has been filed at the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court that was heard on July 28 against the departments of Rural Development, Public Health Engineering Department and the Planning and Coordination Department with a demand for a CBI inquiry.
The petitioners S.T. Yapang Lkr and Odi Jamir cited the RTI reply from the Department of Finance on 15/6/2017 wherein the withdrawal authority given to the three departments were mentioned.
The petition stated that as per the RTI reply, RD department was given a withdrawal authority amounting to 719 crores 67 lakhs 50 thousand and 200 and PHE was given a withdrawal authority 174crores 21 lakhs and 87 thousand.
It also stated that the Planning and Coordination Department was given a withdrawal authority of 85 crores 69 lakhs 30 thosand and 447.
The petitioner claimed that such "whooping amount" drawn from the departments seemed not judiciously utilised for the purpose of genuine welfare of the citizens and has therefore prayed to the court to initiate CBI inquiry.
The matter has been deferred till the fourth week of August.
