According to preliminary reports, the cause of the fire was suspected to be due to electric short circuit. The property destroyed and saved was yet to be assessed till the time of filing this report.

Eye witnesses in the vicinity stated that timely intervention of the Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services (NFES) saved the fire from spreading to nearby places.

It may be mentioned that two major fire incidents occurred in Kohima on Thursday at Monkhola, opposite ICICI Bank, and another one at Merhulietsa (Para Medical) colony.
